How many times have you thought “damn this burger could really use some nouc mam”? Well probably never, but you might once you’ve tried the new Vietnamese-inspired, limited edition ‘Hannah’ burger.

Is it strange to base a burger off what is essentially another burger? Sort of. Does that mean the Hannah will be any less tasty? No. Especially when the burger is the culinary lovechild of local burger king Huxtaburger and hip Vietnamese joint Hanoi Hannah.

Inspired by the Vietnamese fast food sanga the bánh mì, the Hannah burger features a lemongrass, chilli and ginger pork patty topped with pickled carrot, green papaya, coriander, Vietnamese mint, crispy shallots, spicy mayo, a smear of pâté and a drizzle of nouc mam. All sandwiched between a Huxtaburger hamburger bun.

While it might cost you only pocket change to get an authentic street-side bánh mì in Vietnam (or even Footscray), the Hannah will cost you a little more coming at $12.50 a pop. The Hannah is available dine in or takeaway at all Huxtaburger and Hanoi Hannah restaurants until Tuesday November 7.

Just want a regular burger? We know the best burgers in Melbourne.
