Sure, the depths of winter isn't always the best time to start thinking about outdoor drinking, but news that Bomba is set to reopen their rooftop bar is a welcome reminder that it will be warm again before we know it. And once you're ready for open skies drinking, the new bar will be ready to assist you with twice the capacity they had before, a retractable roof and a shiny, new copper bar.

The official reopening is on Thu Jul 19 and the new-look bar will have a gin focus, stocking a big range of Australian and Spanish distillers. And to warm up those early-adopter fingers of yours, they're launching with a hot cocktail called' All Things Nice' that is made with Melbourne Moonshine Apple Pie, brandy, pear juice and spices.

The eight beers taps will have a local, independent bent, as will the wines. And as for snacks, the famous Catalonian toasted sandwich, the Bikini, will be in pride of place on the menu, packed with Jamón Ibérico with truffle or smoked ham hock with mahón and mozzarella.

And in a touch of New York whimsy, they're going to be projecting 1970's black and white films onto the wall of the opposite building.

While it's still chilly maybe Melbourne's best pub roasts are calling your name?
