It's a scenario that is either the dream or the nightmare of music-lovers everywhere. Your favourite band comes to town, and they drop in at a small bar for a secret gig or DJ set. If you find out about it the morning after, it's a nightmare. If you're lucky enough to find out about it on the day, you're living the dream.

If you're a fan of the xx or Warpaint, then we've got dizzyingly good news: xx frontwoman Romy Madley Croft and Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa are dropping into CBD laneway bar Ferdydurke tonight to take to the decks for DJ sets.

Yep, the secret is out. The party kicks off at 9pm. It's free on a first-in-best-dressed basis, and given that Ferdydurke have now created a Facebook event for this not-so-secret shindig, we reckon you'd want to consider getting there very early to score a spot in the crowd.

Romy and Stella's surprise party comes off the back of recent xx and Warpaint gigs in Melbourne. Romy's been particularly busy – the xx played their Sidney Myer Music Bowl gig on Saturday night (powering through despite the rain) and then hit the Forum last night for a show where proceeds went to queer youth organisation Minus 18. Oh, and did you hear that the whole band visited the Minus 18 tent at Midsumma Carnival yesterday to hang out with LGBTQIA+ young people? Legends. For more proof that Romy is a total champion, check out what she had to say about the plebiscite in our recent interview.
