Melburnians love being told where to eat, and thanks to the steak experts at World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants, we’ve got more dinner planning to do. The full global list of World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants for 2026 is yet to drop, but as a teaser, they’ve revealed their guide to Australia’s best via their Insta – and while Sydney may have nabbed the top gong, Melbourne has stacked the list with some serious heavy-hitters.

Leading the charge for Victoria is Steer Dining Room, which came in at an impressive sixth place. Just behind at number eight is Victor Churchill – proof that butcher-shop chic and elite steak service are a winning combo. Landing at 15th place, Andrew McConnell’s glamorous Euro-inspired diner Gimlet continues to add to its accolades.

Coming in at number 17 is basement favourite Meatmaiden, and at number 18, Matilda showcases its wood-fired prowess – a love letter to native ingredients and open-flame cooking.

French-accented bistro classic Entrecôte claims 21st place, flying the flag for frites, sauce and perfectly cooked steak done the Parisian way. Meanwhile, CBD stalwart Grill Americano lands at number 27, blending Italian city swagger with serious credentials (it recently opened a Sydney outpost to a very welcome reception).

Rounding out the list at number 28 is riverside venue Blackbird, which has quietly cemented itself as a dependable destination for prime cuts with a view.
