Nick and Nora's is the latest cocktail bar to embody the opulence of the Great Gatsby. The bar is by the Speakeasy Group, who are also behind award-winning venues like Eau de Vie, Mjølner and Boilermaker House. Like Mjolner, Nick & Nora's has come to Melbourne direct from Sydney and was inspired by Dashiell Hammett's novel The Thin Man and its fictional crime-solving team Nick and Nora Charles.

Expect five distinct areas consisting of the main bar; Champagne parlour; VIP lounge and salon, plus three balconies.

Champagne might be the main name of the game here, but its range of cocktails shouldn't be overlooked either. The Asa Akira is the venue's take on a Dirty Martini that combines Plymouth Gin with sake and melon brine, dished up in a glass that's chilled using liquid nitrogen. It's equal parts theatrical, sophisticated and playful, and that sets the tone for the bar.
