Lugging clunky glass bottles of spirits to a picnic or camping trip isn't chic, but you know what is? Bringing along an eco-friendly 1.5L box of spirits that's fitted out with a convenient spout for ease of pouring, perfect for making a cheeky round of cocktails. And thanks to Brisbane-based drinks company Mandatory Spirit Co., that dream is now a distinct possibility.

Mandatory has just launched its vodka and gin in boxed form using bag-in-box packaging, á la goon bags but much chicer. The vessel is made using 100 per cent recyclable materials and is easier to transport, resulting in a carbon footprint that's eight times smaller than its glass bottle equivalent.

"By creating these spirits, Aussies are able to have a bit of fun and get creative with making their favourite cocktails while purchasing spirits in a more sustainable way," says Mark Collins, the brand's co-founder.

The boxes are available to purchase at BWS and Dan Murphy's for RRP $84.95. For more information, visit the Mandatory Spirit Co. website
