For the first time since the Covid-19 crisis hit Australian shores, the Wheeler Centre will finally be able to host prominent international speakers for its annual Autumn Series. This year, the series will include dozens of events taking place from March 4 to May 6 at venues across Melbourne, Castlemaine, Warrnambool, the Mornington Peninsula and online.

The series has already featured writer and speaker Roxane Gay for a discussion centred around her unapologetic and famously sharp approach to writing and culture, as well as award-winning podcast host and designer Debbie Millman. Economist Satyajit Das tackled the world's financial and political crises in a playful way through the lens of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and prize-winning UK poet Joelle Taylor took the stage to perform poems from her latest collection.

Upcoming speakers include a chat with Liane Moriarty on May 3 about her latest work, Apples Never Fall, an analysis of Australia's relationships with the US and China by former prime minister Kevin Rudd and a digital conversation with Queer Eye grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness. Alongside speakers, there is also an array of events in partnership with leading arts and cultural organisations, including a queer erotic fan faction salon and a panel discussion exploring repatriation.
