Head to Rossi on Greville Street for the ultimate midweek winter combo of jazz and lasagna

Hump days just got a whole lot better thanks to the launch of 'In The Corner' – a jazz-hop and lasagne night at Greville Street newcomer Rossi.

Running every Wednesday until the end of September, the intimate events shines a spotlight on two great Melburnian passions: saucy carbs and even saucier grooves. Anticipate an evening of stunning cocktails and layers upon layers of pastalicious goodness set to a soundtrack of funky live tunes from a world-class band at the top of their game.

“It’s not your classic jazz vibe that’s already been done,” says Nick Young, director of the Good Company Bar Group. “We are infusing elements of jazz, hip hop and sample culture. Our musicians will be exploring sounds and melodies, while the guests explore our amazing food and drinks – it’s an exciting collaboration.”

The trio of internationally acclaimed musicians performing each night include composer Grant Windsor (who has worked with the likes of Gregory Porter, Kamaal Williams and Jose James), Sensible J (Sampa the Great, Remi and N’fa Jones) and Caleb Shand (Matt Corby, Master Ace, Brian Jackson and cb3).

Meanwhile, lovers of lasagna will be in for a treat with the exclusive menu, which offers three glorious slabs to try: classic, vegetarian and seafood. The classic lasagna is a mix of beef, pork and bone barrow locally sourced from Gary’s Butcher at Prahran Market. It's slow-cooked for around eight hours in red wine and tomato sauce, and then layered with parmesan bechamel sauce. The vegetarian version combines zucchini, peas and ricotta between sheets of fresh spinach pasta, while the seafood option has been dreamt up with the flavours of a seafood bisque in mind.

The man behind these hearty creations is none other than Michelin Star-trained and ex-Vue de Monde alumni Thibault Boggio, whose menu will also offer a range of antipasti, cocktails and dessert to round out your meal.

These jazz and lasagne nights are designed to be a soulful Wednesday ritual to get you through Melbourne’s winter months. Hey, we’ll take it! To book a table, head to the website.
