Here's how to participate.

Santa certainly has a lot of ground to cover on December 24. No matter how fast Rudolph and friends go, a little help is always appreciated.

You can step into Kris Kringle's shoes and lend a hand thanks to Operation Santa Claus, the USPS' clever way to give back. Essentially, you're perusing children's wishlists online, adopting a letter (they arrive daily!) and sending the requested items to a child. It's a wonderful way to spread some holiday cheer, especially after such a tumultuous year.

Here's what to do:

  • Visit USPS Operation Santa Online.
  • Peruse children's letters and adopt one that speaks to you.
  • Find and wrap the items on the wishlist.
  • Make sure to adhere to the shipping guidelines
  • Bring your present to a post office by December 19 so it arrives in time for Christmas.

Once you've found the letter you love, visit the best New York toy store locations and search for the goods on the list! Be sure to also see what's available at our favorite kids' clothing stores in NYC. After this undertaking, we suggest treating yourself to something sweet—Christmas cookies, hot chocolate and so on—and kicking back with one of the jolliest Christmas movies out there. Santa and his elves thank you for your assistance!
