Though we love when plays are brought to life on stage, we can't help but swoon over the outdoor productions of our favorite shows. If you haven't been able to snag free tickets to Shakespeare in the Park this season, don't fret—Piper Theatre offers another great opportunity for you to enjoy a classic tale amidst some urban greenery.

Your local Brooklyn-bound trains are also headed to Neverland this summer thanks to the production of Wendy Darling & Peter Pan, a fusion of The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up and When Wendy Grew Up – An Afterthought. Those ready to journey to another world are invited to Park Slope’s Old Stone House & Washington Park to watch as Wendy grapples with this exhilarating, albeit confusion, scenario.

"Wendy survives the tale to be surrounded by those who can’t remember the adventure. It’s this small tragedy that gives depth to the adventure and something human we can all relate to,” the theater's co-founder John P. McEneny said in a statement. Fans are undoubtedly ready to see what possibilities await for our famous protagonist in this adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s story.

Piper Theatre—which is known for productions of Sweeny Todd and Psycho Beach Party, among others—is determined to get all New Yorkers (even little ones) immersed in the art form.

"Whether you’re an audience member, a 7-year-old in the education program, a teenager working backstage at your first job, an emerging artist, or an Equity actor, Piper is committed to theater for all," McEneny further states.

Grab those picnic blankets and snag a few beverages (alcoholic and non, available onsite) for Wendy's latest adventure. Performances will take place on July 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 8pm. To seal the deal, all tickets are free. Visit Piper Theatre online to learn more. Save us a spot on the lawn!
