The hottest F&B destinations to hit up this month

Dare we say it, this might be the best month of the year so far in terms of the amount of exciting F&B openings in Singapore – starting strong with a new burger joint in the heart of town, by the same folks behind the wildly popular pasta bar Scarpetta. They've kick-started the month with an attractive 1000 burger giveaway, guaranteed to draw in long queues all weekend. Another wallet-friendly option that caught our eye: Sio Pasta from Tokyo, where fresh, handcrafted pasta tossed in simple, homely flavours starts at an affordable $13.80.
On the grander side of things, Raffles Hotel Singapore welcomes back Chef André Chiang with a retrospective – and historic – restaurant, 1887 by André, championing a unique brand of 'contemporary heritage gastronomy with French philosophies'. There's still more. Munch on Asian comfort food and rice in all forms and fashions at Rice, the hip new restaurant that just opened in the lifestyle and music venue Rasa Space. Finally, Spanish restaurant Sabòr promises lively evenings over tapas and sharing plates at Chijmes' breezy courtyard. Scroll on to find out more about all these new venues in Singapore.

The new standing burger bar at Amoy Street is cut from the same cloth as its predecessor, Scarpetta, located just three doors down. No reservations, a tight menu, reasonable CBD prices and a fuss-free 'in and out' dining experience. Smash Street keeps things simple and sharp with just two burgers and three sides on its menu. The patties are a blend of Australian Black Angus brisket, chuck, short rib and dry-aged trimmings, with a good fat-to-meat ratio. Behind the counter, head chef Reisuke Kiyose presses down, almost smearing the patties over the griddle for guaranteed crispy edges. The classic burger ($14) features two of those patties, sandwiched between buttered potato buns. It's then topped with cheese, pickles and a house-made smoked pickled jalapeño sauce. The house burger has more heft and structure. At $17, it comes with three patties, cheese and your choice of pickles or jalapeño. There are also options to load up the classic or house burgers with onion relish (additional $2) or bacon (additional $3). Chow down the stacks with sides of fries ($6), onion rings ($6) or chicken poppers ($10) with chilli crunch aioli.

Singapore’s pasta scene just gained yet another serious addition, and this time, a delightfully affordable one. Sio Pasta – the casual offshoot of Tokyo’s Michelin-recognised restaurant Sio Aoyama, which has been featured in the Michelin Guide Tokyo for six consecutive years – just opened its very first international outpost at Raffles City Shopping Centre. The idea is straightforward: Italian food made with characteristic Japanese precision, but priced and paced for everyday meals, not just once-in-a-while splurges. Look forward to over 10 varieties of fresh pasta, priced from $13.80. Must-orders include the fried egg, cheese and salted kelp ($13.80) combination, which is hearty yet surprisingly light. The self-named 'Best Mentaiko Pasta' ($16.80) is equally addictive, with al dente strands coated in an umami-rich mentaiko cream sauce. But our winner is the pork belly and mushroom pasta ($16.80), which includes one of our favourite Japanese condiments – yuzu kosho. Beyond pastas, Sio Pasta also offers sides like baguettes with fig or mentaiko butter ($4.80), black garlic pepper fried chicken (from $4.80) and eight-inch pizzas for sharing.

1887 by André might be one of the most important homecomings in Singapore's culinary scene in recent history. Taiwanese chef and restaurateur André Chiang, behind the former two-Michelin-starred Restaurant André in Singapore and other successful concepts like Raw in Taipei, has officially returned to a permanent stage at the historic Raffles Hotel Singapore. Named after the year Raffles Hotel first opened, 1887 by André is set within the hotel's century-old formal dining room. The interiors have been given a facelift by prominent architect Bill Bensley, taking cues from tropical glasshouses and the hotel's key motifs, like its iconic palm leaf and emerald-green accents. The food at 1887 by André is described as 'contemporary heritage gastronomy with French philosophies', taking inspiration from a range of places: Victorian and Belle Époque eras, the hotel's archives, Chef André's personal culinary journey and more. Guests can either opt for the à la carte menu or one of three tasting journeys, which will feature some of Chef André's signature dishes over the years. Highlights include the boeuf aux Sept Poivres served on a silver beef wagon, 'Turtle Soup', Royale of Foie Gras – Memory and Papillote de Bouillabaisse.

The Meatmen Group, the Singapore media company and F&B consultant (also behind viral recipe videos on The Meatmen Channel on YouTube), is stepping into the physical world with its very first restaurant, Rice, now open inside lifestyle and music venue Rasa Space. The Meatmen Channel was all about making Asian cooking approachable for everyone, so it's no surprise that Rice's menu leans heavily into Asian comfort food. Think laksa seafood pao fan that dials up the richness with a coconut-heavy broth and crispy rice puffs for texture. Or a pulut hitam panna cotta that takes your childhood dessert and gives it a bougie twist. The signature smoky fish soup, finished with charcoal oil, is also a must-try, alongside the savoury, spicy shrimp lemper rolls. Rice also has big plans beyond food. With support from investment group The Wolfpack, the team plans to host creative food collaborations, pop-ups, and events across Singapore. That's where its opening in Rasa Space also seems like a natural choice, as it's been the spot for Asian music, nightlife, art and community events since it opened in the CBD.

A new Spanish restaurant now calls Chijmes' breezy courtyard its home, and it's by the same team that runs the Italian restaurant Duomo Ristorante next door. With an expansive seating area that fits up to 100 pax, Sabòr is an ideal spot for big gatherings and communal feasts. The highlight, of course, is the space, which is divided into a glass-enclosed dining room and an open courtyard terrace that looks out into Chijmes' historic architecture. Valencian-born chef Javier Vicente Rejas (previously from FOC) is responsible for the menu here. His food programme revolves around bold, approachable flavours, with several tapas and bite-sized creations, alongside large-format dishes that are perfect for sharing. Order a round of spicy crab croquettes or bikini sobrasadas with honey and cheese to start, before diging into binchotan-grilled plates of barramundi with moho picón or wagyu beef. Beyond the food, look forward to all-week-long happy hours from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and extra attention paid to the music programming so the atmosphere stays lively and vibrant all night.
