The Adina tagline is #YourOtherAddress – and based on the rooms, facilities and thoughtfully location-specific aesthetic of the Adina properties I’ve stayed in, it totally checks out. Stepping into the designer lobby of Adina Bondi, you’d be forgiven for mistaken you were heading to your friend’s luxe new beachside home. Right in the beating heart of Bondi, home to 111 apartment-style suites, Adina Bondi is the perfect base for anyone who wants a commitment-free sample of life in Australia’s most famous beachside ’burb.
Sitting right in the heart of Bondi’s buzzy Hall Street, within the 33,000-square-metre complex known as The Hub, Adina Bondi Beach is a breezy, beachy hotel-apartment hybrid in a next-level location. It’s the sort of place where you can wake up, grab a top-tier coffee (our rec is Makuto), spend a day in the waves, then wander home with a bottle of wine for balcony drinks without ever needing to get in a car.
As per the Adina ethos, the vibe here is apartment living with hotel service. The 111 studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments are designed to give you a heap more elbow room than your average hotel room, with kitchens and laundry facilities making them perfect for longer stays and multigenerational trips.
There are sofa beds and rollaway beds for larger groups, while various studio and one-bedroom apartments can be interconnected to create bigger spaces with extra bedrooms and bathrooms. One apartment even has a huge balcony that doubles as an event space.
Ours was a one-bedroom apartment, and it was a dream base for our two-night beachside staycation – complete with kitchen, open-plan living/ dining room and a balcony overlooking the pool.
There isn’t a traditional in-house restaurant, but there’s no chance of going hungry. Adina sits sandwiched between Bill’s (arguably the birthplace of Australian brunch culture) and Henrietta (one of Sydney’s finest charcoal chicken shops), and within the Hub complex you’ve got Messina (first-rate ice cream), Besa and Masala Theory among others. There’s also a gourmet supermarket downstairs, making it super easy to stock your apartment with breakfast supplies, snacks and gorgeous organic groceries.
The vibe is more home-away-from-home than buttoned-up five-star hotel, but you still get the conveniences you’d expect from a proper hotel stay.
There’s a pretty well-equipped on-site gym, so you can balance out those long lunches and late-night gelato missions. The hotel also offers push bikes for guests, so you can get your movement in by pedalling through Bondi’s sunny streets.
The expansive on-site pool is a bit of a gem in such a densely populated suburb. It’s an indoor-outdoor situation, covered by a roof but opening up to the central courtyard – meaning it’s sheltered from the Bondi heat, but framed by sun-soaked loungers.
There’s not technically a spa, but the hot tub next to the pool will scratch your self-care itch (we were staying over the City2Surf weekend, and it was a real blessing for post-run recovery).
In short: peak Bondi. As mentioned above, the hotel is right in the heart of Hall Street – with Bondi’s best cafés, restaurants and bougie boutiques all within easy walking distance. In the lift on the way up to your apartment, you’ll find an Adina-branded map of the area highlighting the team’s top local picks – it’s a fun, thoughtful touch, and as an Eastern Suburbs local myself, I can vouch for their choices.
Because it gives you the best bits of a Bondi holiday without forcing you to live out of a suitcase. The apartment-style rooms mean you get proper liveable space, while the hotel perks keep things firmly in holiday-mode.
