Sydney doesn’t need to try in summertime: long balmy evenings, sparkling skies and that particular kind of golden light bouncing off the harbour that gives everything and everyone a kind of Ghibli-coded glow. But over the past few years, the Harbour City has been seriously stepping up its game on the open-air music front, and there’s more in the works. The 2026-2027 summer season is shaping up to be next-level – from Forma (a new event series bringing Don West, Sister Sledge, The Veronicas and other major acts to Tumbalong Park) to Sydney Opera House’s always-magical On The Steps series, there’s a lot of outdoor dance time filling up our calendars. Now, Sydney Summertime is joining the party – bringing a string of big-name concerts to Centennial Park to tie a sweet sweet bow on summer in the city.
Sydney Summertime will launch in late February and early March 2027, with a limited run of standalone concerts featuring what we’re promised will be major international headliners and some of Australia’s most popular acts. The artists are still firmly under wraps for now (with the first line-up, dates and ticketing details expected to drop in the coming weeks) but here’s what we know so far.
The new series comes from Australian live music heavyweights Jessica Ducrou and Elise Huntley, the duo behind Black Peach X. Between them, they’ve had a hand in some of Australia’s biggest live music events, including Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Harvest Rock, Download Festival and Sydney City Limits.
Rather than one enormous multi-day festival, Sydney Summertime will take the form of a series of standalone concerts, with each event pairing a major headliner with a supporting line-up of Australian and international artists spanning different genres and generations. According to the team, Australian performers will feature every day, with a particular focus on showcasing talent from NSW.
Based on what we know so far, we should expect to see Centennial Park transformed into a sort of elevated summer playground – with pop-ups from some of the city’s fave restaurants, food trucks serving up regional NSW produce, cellar doors, a cocktail bar and beer hall punctuating the park.
The announcement has landed at a time when Australia’s live music and festival industry has been doing it pretty tough, so the arrival of a new homegrown concert series is something worth getting excited about.
As NSW Minister for Music and the Night-time Economy John Graham explained: “NSW has a rich music festival history, but recently that sector has been under a lot of pressure…we don’t want to lose any more festivals, in fact we want more of them.”

For Ducrou (one of the festival’s co-directors), there’s no better place to stage the series than Centennial Park.
“Centennial Park is honestly my favourite place in town,” she said. “It's an absolute dream to host Sydney Summertime in arguably the best venue in the country.”
Five different ticket experiences will be available, ranging from general admission through to dedicated viewing and VIP areas, and public transport will be integrated into every concert ticket.
