The government has just announced an extension on the current social distancing guidelines, which means all of our favourite bars will remain closed until August 25. Luckily, our city's watering holes have been getting creative by introducing cocktail takeaways or delivery, or even reopening as dine-in venues with scrumptious food menus! The latest bars to reopen their doors are Foxglove and Dr Fern's Gin Parlour with new menus and happy hours for patrons to enjoy.
Dr Fern's shiitake mushrooms and braise tofu with rice takeaway
Offering a brand new lunch set for two ($388), Foxglove's chef Hung is whipping a special trio of homemade starters – a choice of their signature soups, followed by a rice or noodle option such as scallops fried rice with fresh tomatoes and tofu or wagyu fried rice with premium soya sauce, and a sweet dessert to round off the meal. Alternatively, diners can opt for the Chef's Recommendations set menu ($216 per person) where guests can dig into entrees such as wok-braised beef in brown sauce, plum sauce glazed spareribs, and a stir-fried minced Beyond beef and bitter gourd with black bean. The set menu will also come with a starters trio, soup, as well as a dessert.
As for Dr Fern's Gin Parlour, the 'doctor' is encouraging everyone to boost their immune system with a Healthy Eating Menu ($60) – available for both dine-in and takeaway – consisting of mouthwatering vegetarian dishes such as Gardein chicken and pumpkin with rice, shiitake mushrooms and braise tofu with rice, or eggplant with minced OmniPork. If that's not quite enough, complete your meal with a soup or drink for an extra $20.

For those looking for a cheeky afternoon tipple, Foxglove is making their popular Mad Men Hour available during open hours, offering guests a chance to sip on house mixers, craft beers, house wines, Mad Men Hour cocktails, and a selection of The Lost Distillery whiskies. Dr Fern's is also bringing back the Gin O'Clock during open hours with their G&Ts at just $64 per glass. Though, if you prefer to enjoy your drink at home, you can also get it for takeaway with a 20 percent discount.
