Originally scheduled on October 29 to November 1, Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival will now commence online in light of the current situation in the city. Since it launched in 2009, the festival has been attracting over 140,000 visitors annually, featuring over 400 wine and food booths from wineries and brands from different parts of the globe. Set against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbour, the festival welcomes visitors for wine tastings and food pairings with award-winning dishes from renowned culinary masters.
It will be the first time the celebrated event is going virtual, but it is the second year that it is not pushing through on-ground as it was cancelled last year due to the ongoing protests in the city. The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced this afternoon that the online version of the festival will be extended to a few weeks instead of a three-day event and will feature a series of pocket activities like wine tasting, cooking workshops, and auctions, among others. Going virtual would allow merchants to still participate and promote their products even without a physical booth.
This announcement also comes with the cancellation of the annual cycling race Hong Kong Cyclothon originally scheduled to take place in November.
