After the massive success of its partnerships with Omega and Blancpain, Swatch is shaking up the watch world yet again – and it’s a big one this time. The brand has teamed up with legendary Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet (AP), and after a cryptic announcement on Instagram, the upcoming ‘Royal Pop’ collection has officially sent the internet into a frenzy.

Curious about what this powerhouse duo has in store? Here’s everything we know so far about the AP x Swatch ‘Royal Pop’ drop, including release dates, pricing, and where you can get your hands on one in Hong Kong.

What do we know about the Swatch x AP watch?

After intense online speculation and way too many AI-generated images, it has now been confirmed that the Swatch x AP Royal Pop is not a traditional wristwatch, but a pocket watch! The long, looped strap in the teaser images was a big clue. Available in eight colourways, the colour of the clock face is emphasised by a contrasting or complimentary bezel colour. The pocket watch strap is sold separately, which gives you the freedom to further mix and match your preferred style.

When is the Swatch x AP release date? How much will it cost in Hong Kong?

The global launch is set for May 16. It has now been announced on the Swatch website that Audemars Piguet x Swatch collaboration pieces will be priced between $2,940 to $3,150, while the straps will be $340.

What colours are there for the Swatch x AP pocket watch?

There are eight colourways for the Swatch x Audemars Piguet collection, clearly inspired by the pop art movement. Otto Rosso is a cherry red bezel on a pale pink face; Blaue Acht is a pale teal bezel on a pastel green face; Lan Ba features a baby blue bezel on a deep blue face; Huit Blanc is white with subtle pops of colour; OTG Roz pairs a teal face with bright yellow and pink; Green Eight features two shades of green; Orenji Hachi is a navy blue with small orange accents; and Ocho Negro pairs a black watch face with a white bezel.

What makes the AP x Swatch ‘Royal Pop’ design special?

Swatch has described this new design as a “disruptive collaboration” that blends bold, playful energy with high-end craftsmanship, promising to redefine how we wear watches.

Aside from the funky colourways, these watches also feature a transparent case back, so you can have a small peek into its inner workings. There are also two distinct versions to choose from: the Lépine style has the crown at the 12 o’clock position with a two-hand time display, while the Savonnette style features the crown at  3 o’clock and a small sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position.

The calfskin lanyard-like strap with contrast stitching also allows for more creative uses of the watch. It can be styled around the neck or wrist, tucked into a pocket, or even used as a bag charm. To keep things versatile, the watches come with three straps of different lengths, as well as a detachable mini stand which can be used to display the Swatch x AP timepiece like a little desk clock.
