Better hail the catbus: Cinema Nova is celebrating the weird, wonderful and magical world of Studio Ghibli in choc top form.

Cinema Nova’s house-made choc tops are famous – they’re the perfect treat to enjoy while you soak up the best flicks that this independent cinema complex has to offer. So what better way to celebrate your favourite Japanese animation than by devouring a beautifully crafted Totoro choc top?

From today onwards, cinema goers can get their hands on Totoro choc tops from Cinema Nova’s candy bar.

A rep from Cinema Nova gave Time Out the heads up on flavour too: "They're vanilla – last time we made them they were chocolate but with all the chocolate covering and sweets that went into making their little faces they proved VERY rich!"

It seems everyone’s in the mood to celebrate Studio Ghibli – Ascot Vale bakery Mister Nice Guys’ Bakeshop will be releasing Totoro doughnuts exclusively on Sunday September 3. These vegan, gluten-free, fructose-free and sugar-free creations are iced to look like your favourite furry forest-dwelling monster rabbits. They’ll also be making cupcake versions of the soot sprites from Spirited Away, matcha milkshakes and cheesecakes. Read all about it here.

ACMI is screening all your favourite Studio Ghibli flicks in a month long tribute.

Psst, by the way, you can now get edible cookie dough in Melbourne.
