The Starboy is finally taking his world tour to Australia
Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, is finally taking his Starboy world tour to Australia. The Grammy award-winning RnB artist from Toronto is heading for Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on December 8.
The Weeknd, who rose to fame on the back of his Drake-endorsed Trilogy mixtape, has often been compared to Michael Jackson (who he cites as a musical inspiration along with Prince). His slow tempo ballads, sung in the singer's signature falsetto, has made Tesfaye a sought after collaborator. He's featured on tracks with Sia, Lana Del Rey, Ariana Grande and Disclosure as well as appearing on the Fifty Shades of Grey and Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtracks.
French Montana and Nav will be supporting The Weeknd on his Australian dates. Tickets are on sale now.
