If you’re looking to go on an all-day, terroir-riffic tour of the Mornington Peninsula’s wineries then you’ve traditionally had two choices: book a tour or draw straws to see which friend get stuck as the designated driver (and we salute them for their sacrifice). But those heading down the peninsula now have a third option available: a hop-on, hop-off winery tour bus service.

Hop It has expanded to the Mornington Peninsula following its launch in the Yarra Valley. This is like Busabout but for wineries, with the service allowing guests to choose a max of four stops from a total of 12 stops. Stops on the tour include wineries like Montalto, Red Hill Estate, T’Gallant wines and Port Phillip Estate.

Want to mix up your poisons? You can also stop at Bass and Flinders Distillery then walk to the likes of Jimmy Rum, Jetty Road Brewery and Peninsula Cider. It’s important to sips with snacks so you’ll also have the chance to visit Tuck’s, Red Hill Cheese, Max’s Restaurant and Red Gum BBQ (do not leave without trying the banana pudding).

The Hop It’s Mornington Peninsula service picks up and drops off in the Melbourne CBD and runs weekly Friday through Sunday.

On the other side of the bay, check out everything good to do on the Bellarine.

A permanent new food precinct is coming to Melbourne's west.
