Rick Stein at Coogee Beach – the beautiful new beachfront restaurant spearheaded by legendary chef, TV star and cookbook author Rick Stein, alongside his Aussie wife Sarah Stein – will open this December, and bookings are now open. Always dreamt of tasting Stein’s world-famous seafood? Soon you can.

Called Rick Stein at Coogee Beach, the 224-seat restaurant will boast a cracking location within the soon-to-open InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach. And although Stein has NSW restaurants in Mollymook and Port Stephens, this new venue will be his flagship Australian restaurant.

Featuring a coastal-chic dining room, a relaxed bar perfect for golden hour cocktails, plus a sun-drenched courtyard, the new Rick Stein at Coogee Beach will bring Stein’s signature fresh seafood and relaxed vibe to the Eastern Suburbs.

Stein says: “Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant. It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”

Leading the day-to-day operations of the kitchen will be head chef Colin Chun (ex-Hilton Sydney, Pullman and W Taipei), who shares Stein’s cooking ethos of honest food and celebrating incredible produce.

"There’s an abundance of top-quality seafood in Australia, and we’ll be championing local, seasonal produce with the benefit of accessing the biggest fish market in the Southern Hemisphere. We’ll continue to utilise the relationships we’ve built in our regional locations to source that same produce in Sydney. It's the best of both worlds," Stein adds.

As for the menu, expect mahi mahi caught off the coast of Nelson Bay, Stockton pipis from Port Stephens, line-caught mackerel from Ulladulla, and Nelson Bay blue swimmer crab for Stein’s signature Singapore chilli crab. Plus, there’ll be Stein’s British-style fish and chips with mushy peas and hand-cut chips.

The restaurant is a joint collaboration with Australian partners Salter Brothers, who acquired Bannisters Group in 2024.

Fresh seafood, a couple of Margaritas and Sydney sun and sea? Rick Stein at Coogee Beach – Bring. It. On.

Rick Stein at Coogee Beach will open at InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach on Monday, December 1 2025. Bookings can be made here.
