A fundraiser for the Sydney Dogs and Cats!

Beloved Inner-West drinking hole (and Time Out's Pub of the Year) the Courthouse Hotel (more affectionately known as the Courty) has teamed up with Sydney Dogs and Cats Home to hold a fundraiser for our favourite furry friends. On Saturday, August 27, the Courty’s beer garden will turn into a pet oasis welcoming Sydney's felines and canines while supporting our city's only not-for-profit animal pound. All profits made from two karma kegs of Stone & Wood and Young Henrys will be donated to the Cats and Dogs Shelter.  There’ll be a tonne of raffles and pet giveaways on the day plus the chance to adopt your very own future best friend from a handful of pooches.  So come along, bring your pets and enjoy an afternoon of brews. Because, if there’s one thing that makes sipping an ice-cold schooner even better, it's knowing you’re helping a pup or kitten find their dream home.

Van Morrison’s Masterpieces Featuring Vince Jones And The Astral Orchestra

Van Morrison’s Masterpieces Featuring Vince Jones And The Astral Orchestra

Beloved Australian singer, trumpeter, songwriter and performer Vince Jones has assembled a crack squad of Australian jazz musicians, with musical direction and piano by Matt McMahon, to form the Astral Orchestra.  This super-group of local legends will, for one night only, take on Van Morrison's seminal late '60s and early '70s albums Astral Weeks and Moondance. These are the records that turned Morrison into Van the Man, and gave us 'Madame George' and 'Into the Mystic'. Not only were both albums critically acclaimed (although, for Astral Weeks, the road to recognition was a slow one) they were also hugely influenential for a young Vince Jones. This show at Angel Place's City Recital Hall follows two sold out performances at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, so act fast.
