Step into any Elephant Grounds location around the city and you'll find wooden tableware in a bright setting with plants dotted around here and there. The café is popular for their quality java, huge cups and friendly baristas. While the coffee is what keeps most people coming back for more here, the matcha latte is worth adding to your must-try list. Fragrant, smooth and vibrant green, the high-quality matcha here doesn't disappoint.

With a minimalistic motif of white and sand-coloured decor, the sleek design of this coffee shop chain often draws in curious passers-by. A café that originally hails from Japan, it’s no surprise that % Arabica's matcha latte is one of the best in town. As matcha lattes go, this place offers a pick-me-up that's strong but refreshing, with a light and airy taste, making it a perfect morning and mid-afternoon drink.

Unlike many coffee shops, NOC doesn't mess around with frills and quirks, instead, it gets straight to the good stuff. If you like your matcha latte with a heavy helping of 'aesthetics', then Omotesando Koffee's matcha latte is the one for you. Another cafe chain that is originally from Japan, this minimalist coffee shop is famous for its espressos and cube-shaped baked custards called ‘kashi’. Made with Kyoto green tea and steamed or cold milk, the matcha latte here is potent but goes down easy thanks to its rich, creamy texture. It doesn't hurt that the drink, along with the stylish café itself, is an Instagram heaven.

Tucked in a corner at the end of Sheung Wan's Tai Ping Shan Street is a unique café that serves more than just coffee. Teakha hosts regular music performances inside and outside their shop, miniature markets selling artisan products, movie screenings and calligraphy classes. This is a favourite hangout spot for the neighbourhood locals and, as the name suggests, tea is their signature beverage. The matcha soy latte strikes the perfect balance between the distinct matcha taste and being sweet but not too milky.
