With the massive sprawl of Los Angeles and its diverse culinary offerings at every price point, it can be tough to find the perfect place to slink into a martini and a Caesar, or a boilermaker and some nachos, after a long day. Some happy hours are for snagging a deal on an otherwise luxurious experience, while others are simply a way to meet up with friends after work without losing that day’s pay.

RECOMMENDED: The best bars in Los Angeles

We’ve taken the gas-work out of finding the best happy hour deals around L.A., so all you have to bring is the gossip and a good attitude.

Updated May 2026: The Morrison, The Misfit, and Esters Wine Shop have closed, replaced here by Highland Park’s Hippo and The High Low in Atwater Village. Redbird leaves this list as the Lounge moves to a permanently more budget-friendly menu all night long with $12–14 cocktails, most bar bites under $20, and a Waygyu burger for $22.

Our guide to L.A.’s best happy hour deals

  • Cocktail bars
  • Downtown Arts District
  • price 2 of 4
  • 4 out of 5 stars
  • Recommended

What: $6–7 beers, $9 wines, $11 cocktails and $7–15 bar bites

When: Tue–Sun 4–6pm

Why we love it: This Arts District watering hole is one of the best bars in the city. E.R.B. also happens to be home to one of the city's best burgers, which is on their happy-hour menu. Craveable bites like wild mushroom arancini and a $14 burger and fries combo deal, plus a full array of discounted cocktails, make it easy to stay here awhile—as does the roomy patio out back.

  • Mexican
  • West Hollywood
  • price 2 of 4

What: $6 draft beers, $8 wines, $9 margaritas, $7 small plates and the $10 "Happy Madre Meal."

When: Weekdays 3–6pm

Why we love it: Located on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, Gracias Madre has won people over with its creative plant-based Mexican dishes, extensive tequila and mezcal selection, and one of the best outdoor courtyards in L.A. During weekday happy hour, the restaurant's tequila stock is put to good use with refreshing margaritas that have a hint of sweetness from agave and some bite from orange bitters. You'll find some great deals on draft beers, too, plus some must-try vegan bites like loaded soyrizo nachos and a $10 meal deal that includes a beer, garlic chipotle fries and a jackfruit slider.

  • Japanese
  • Santa Monica
  • price 2 of 4
  • Recommended

What: $5 beers, $6–9 sake, $10 shochu cocktails, $6 shochu highball, $5–20 bar bites

When: Sun–Mon All Day; Tue–Fri 5–6:30pm; Sat 4–6pm; Fri–Sat 9–10:30pm

Why we love it: This Tokyo-based restaurant chain serves seasonally inflected Japanese drinking fare on the northern edge of Santa Monica. The Westside location is the family-run company’s first location outside Japan, and while the regular dinner menu is excellent, the happy hour menu is a downright steal. ShirubÄ“'s ultra-popular corn ribs are on the menu, as is the restaurant's surprisingly tasty negitoro over garlic bread. Snacky fare like pork belly tacos, edamame and garlic shrimp ($18) are also on offer during happy hour.

  • Cocktail bars
  • Long Beach
  • price 1 of 4
  • Recommended

What: $2 off cocktails, $6 beer, discounted fried chicken sandwiches, burgers and oysters

When: Mon–Tue all night; Wed–Fri 3–6pm

Why we love it: The city of L.A. has its fair share of tiki bars, but it doesn't have anything as downright chill as this prime tiki destination down in Long Beach. Home to killer tropical cocktails and vinyl nights, the Bamboo Club serves up some of the most affordable tiki concoctions in L.A. County, and they’re even cheaper during the bar and restaurant’s weekday happy hour. Snack on a $10 fried chicken sandwich or cheeseburger (plant-based or not) and enjoy $9 six-piece wings.

  • Italian
  • Beverly Hills
  • price 3 of 4
  • Recommended

What: $10 martinis

When: Daily 3–5pm

Why we love it: It's a little early for most people, but the award-winning drinks from this New York City import are simply too good to miss. Head to the top floor of the Maybourne Beverly Hills for five unique top-shelf martinis at the steeply discounted price of $10. Throw in the sweeping views of the hills and straightforward Italian fare (which unfortunately isn't discounted), and you've got a compelling reason to play hooky in the afternoon.

  • Cocktail bars
  • Venice
  • price 2 of 4
  • Recommended

What: $10 frozen daiquiris, margaritas and shot and beer combos, $8 wines and well drinks, $4 beer, $6–14 bar bites

When: Daily 4–6pm

Why we love it: Gin Rummy is an island-inspired drinking destination serving impeccably crafted tiki classics and a great happy hour that includes $10 chicken wings and $14 coconut shrimp. In addition to the specials above, there's plenty of room for large groups to spread out in the breezy Venice-adjacent space.

  • Recommended

What: $9 grilled cheese sandwiches and tacos, $13 six-piece wings, nachos and sliders, $6 draft beers, $8 wines, $11 cocktails

When: Mon 5–9pm, Tue–Fri 5–6pm

Why we love it: Meat butchered on premise, brisket smoked over peach wood logs, a pitmaster from Texas—this Culver City barbecue joint checks all the right boxes, including an excellent happy hour menu. Steeply discounted bar bites are available before 6pm, including nachos topped with your choice of smoked brisket or pork belly, a set of smashburger sliders and smoky, juicy wings with house white barbecue sauce or honey Sriracha. • Mexican
  • Los Feliz

What: $5–6 beers, $9 wines, $10 cocktails, $5–12 bar bites, $3.50 tacos dorados

When: Mon–Fri 3–6pm (except holidays)

Why we love it: Tu Madre’s West Hollywood, Santa Monica and Los Feliz locations offer seriously killer specials during “feliz hour.” Though a slightly leaner menu these days, one can still easily assemble a filling meal with a drink for under $50, maybe even $40, between $12 nachos that can get a beef infusion for $2 and a few shrimp-potato dorado tacos.

  • Mexican
  • Fairfax District
  • price 2 of 4

What: $7 wine and beer (including micheladas), $8 sangria, house mezcal and tequilas, $11 cocktails, $5–12 appetizers

When: Mon–Fri 3–7pm

Why we love it: Madre’s four locations (Torrance, Culver City, Santa Clarita and West Hollywood) are known for their staggering selection of 400 different bottles of mezcal available for tastings. While the full collection isn't part of the happy hour menu, you can sample some of Madre's mezcal offerings in their great cocktail menu, including a smoky margarita that’s just the right balance of heat, sweetness and acidity. They’ve also added a few house tequilas and mezcals to sip including a Mezcal O’Clock flight for $21. Choose from a lengthy food menu and enjoy a variety of delicious small bites, like charred elote with queso cotija, tender carnitas tacos, or a side of chips with chicken mole negro to dip into.

  • Fusion
  • Koreatown
  • price 2 of 4

What: $5–9 appetizers, $6 beer, $7 wine and well cocktails, $22 pitchers

When: Daily 4–7pm, Sun–Thu 11pm–1am

Why we love it: This beloved Colombian-Korean fusion spot has proven to be one of the liveliest spots in the historic Chapman Plaza, if not all of Koreatown, with its DJ-hosted brunches and twice-a-day happy hour specials. Drinks are under $7 each, with the option to get a pitcher of Modelo or Stella for $22. Food includes small bites like a special on wings, crispy yucca fries and empanadas filled with spicy kimchi fried rice or you can get a more substantial chorizo sandwich that comes with house-made chips for $10.

  • Contemporary American
  • Hollywood
  • price 2 of 4

What: $5 beers, $9 well drinks, wines, and specialty cocktails, $4.20–7 bar bites

When: Thu–Sun 4–6pm

Why we love it: Known citywide for its excellent burger, this West Hollywood gastropub offers a decent food selection at happy hour and actually low prices—which also makes it one of the best places near the Sunset Strip to find an affordable meal. On the menu, you can find a wildly affordable smash burger at $4.20 (you can add more patties for $4.20 each) and other tasty drinking fare like caramelized Brussels sprouts and miso-glazed edamame.

  • American creative
  • Highland Park
  • price 2 of 4
  • 4 out of 5 stars
  • Recommended

What: $4–7 bar bites, $12–14 pasta, $9–11 cocktails, $10 wine

When: Wed–Fri, Sun 5–6pm

Why we love it: Available in the bar area and at the rail, “HiPPO Hour” has smaller prices than its name suggests. With $9 spritzes and roughly half-price pastas, it’s easily the best happy hour in Highland Park. Hitmakers like the Hippo Rolls and shaved brussels sprouts also make the list at a fraction of the cost, best enjoyed with a “tiny tini” of your choice for $11. This hour of deals is one of the more effective gateways into the full restaurant experience.

Why we love it: Other than karaoke nights, happy hour is when The High Low really comes alive. Regulars clamor over $5 soft pretzels, $9 margaritas, and $12 carnitas nachos, while anyone just killing time can snap up half-price bar snacks like chips and salsa and roughly $7 beers. The more the merrier in this spacious locale, where you can take your haul to a plush booth or the wrought-iron patio.

  • price 2 of 4

What: $10–13 small plates, $5–7 beer, $8–10 wine, $10–12 cocktails

When: Mon–Fri 5–6pm; Sat, Sun 4–6pm

Why we love it: This Southeast Asian-inspired Culver City kitchen has mastered the art of having the perfect salty bite with your afternoon cocktail. Try the crispy chicken skin, which looks like traditional pork rinds but with a peppery seasoning, or the nam prik wings, which come with a Thai sweet-and-spicy glaze and a crushed-peanut topping. The $12 Venetian Spritz is also a great way to take the edge off the end of a long day.

  • Seafood
  • West Hollywood
  • price 2 of 4

What: $6 beer, $8 cocktails, $4–16 bar bites

When: Wed–Fri 5–6:30pm (bar seating only)

Why we love it: Providence's Michael Cimarusti pays homage to his New England roots with his decade-old seafood restaurant in West Hollywood. Snag a half-dozen oysters for $14, a mini lobster roll for $16 and other surf-and-turf delights from the happy hour menu. We're also partial to the fried calamari ($7) and the house-smoked fish dip ($8).

  • Cocktail bars
  • Los Feliz
  • price 2 of 4
  • Recommended

What: $2 off draft beer, $8 wine, $10 cocktail & Aperol spritzes, $5–12 small plates

When: Mon–Fri 2–7pm

Why we love it: The boozy half of Los Feliz’s Alcove, Big Bar serves excellent cocktails made by knowledgeable and friendly bartenders, and they're even cheaper during their five-hour-long "Eastern Standard" happy hour. Plus, if you manage to get a seat in this small space (or on the twinkly front patio), it can serve as the perfect setting for catching up with a friend or having a drink with a special someone in a charming, old-school ambience. Foodwise, the simple menu includes fries, a burger, mango habanero wings and crispy cauliflower in ginger soy sauce.

  • Venice
  • price 3 of 4
  • Recommended

What: $12 cocktails, $7 wines and beers; $14 steak frites and $4.25–12 bar bites

When: Daily open–7pm (at the bar)

Why we love it: Josiah Citrin's Venice steakhouse has a strong happy-hour menu, making it a great spot for cheap after-work hangouts and early meals. During nightly "glass off," sit at the wraparound bar for an excellent $12 burger made with white American cheese plus grilled wings, skewers and calamari. You can even score a $14 petite-sized steak frites.

  • 3 out of 5 stars
  • Recommended

What: $7 cocktails, well drinks and wines; $2 off beer; $7 bar bites

When: Mon–Fri 4–6pm; Sat 1–6pm

Why we love it: From the street, there’s no mistaking that you’ve found the right place, but this barrel-shaped architectural icon in the Valley's saving grace is its excellent happy hour menu. Stop by anytime before 6pm for affordable bar bites like pretzels, flatbread pizza, chips with cheese or salsa and chicken bites tossed in your choice of buffalo, barbecue or mango habanero sauce.

  • Hotel bars
  • Hollywood
  • price 3 of 4
  • Recommended

What: $10 for two tacos, $9 cocktails, $6 beer and wine

When: Tue–Fri open–8pm

Why we love it: The evening views atop this Western-inspired Hollywood rooftop are stunning to begin with, but the bar's weekday-only Desert Hour also lets you catch the sunset alongside much cheaper cocktails and tacos. Order the Dolly Parton-inspired Jolene—priced at $9 during happy hour—to complete your vaguely country-themed happy hour experience.

  • Sports Bars
  • Silver Lake
  • Recommended

What: $5 beers, $7 wells, $8 cocktails and wines, $9 bar bites, $19 pitchers

When: Mon–Fri 3–7pm, 9:30–close; Sat, Sun 9:30–close

Why we love it: All four locations (Silver Lake, Culver City, Downtown, West Hollywood) of this snazzy L.A. sports bar offer a killer happy hour menu that includes pizza slices, quesadillas,  cheeseburgers and banh mi fries.

Advertising
  • Cocktail bars
  • Westside

What: $6 well drinks, wine, and beer; $7–8 cocktails; $5 sliders, taquitos, and fries; $8–11 bar bites

When: Daily 2–7pm, 10pm–close

Why we love it: Filled to the brim every weekend, this longtime Pico-Robertson bar offers casual neighborhood pub atmosphere (and prices). Board games, dart boards and arcade fun upstairs keep locals occupied most evenings and weekends, but Founders Ale House turns into a party on game nights, when the bar breaks out a large-scale projector. Founders Ale House’s newer happy hour menu bucks the trend of rising prices with a selection of affordable bites priced by the item, including $5 sliders with vegan options, a $11 smashburger and $8 nachos. You can also pair a burger with a well drink, beer, or glass of wine for just $15.
