From July 1, cinephiles can set their laptops aside and once again step into the quiet, reverent ambience of a cinema to see a film like it should be seen: on a huge screen, popcorn in hand, and set to the sound of a stranger's extra loud chewing. Here are the cinemas opening, when they'll be open, and the flicks you'll be able to catch. In the meantime, head to one of Sydney's new drive-in cinemas, settle in for a truly escapist film, or hunker down for the evening with our favourite foodie flicks (just don't start any of them before dinner).

Stay tuned for announcements from more cinemas on their reopening dates.
