Spring is in the air, but we all know Melbourne likes to take its time warming up.If you’re thinking of escaping to Sydney for some sunshine, then boy do we have a recommendation for you. Whether you’re looking for a neighbourhood to explore, dine or stay, there’s a new precinct in town and it’s calling your name.

Sydney’s newly named Hollywood Quarter (aka HQ, for those in the know) is a Surry Hills micro-precinct bordered by Darlinghurst and Central Station.

Hollywood Quarter has a stellar rep with locals for the trendiest restaurants, bars, art galleries and boutique hotels. You’ll find yourself marvelling at the heritage architecture before you step into Golden Age Cinema for a film or one of the old school pubs (like Hotel Hollywood) for some live music.

Whether or not you’ve heard of Sydney’s Hollywood Quarter, you’ll definitely know about some of the famed restaurants housed within this vibrant pocket of the city. Try the housemade charcuterie at Nomad, or head to Pellegrino 2000 for amped-up trattoria classics. If you’re after something viscerally smoky, Firedoor has you covered. For a rooftop dinner, you can’t go past Kiln atop the Ace Hotel. Speaking of hotels, accommodation options abound in HQ. Paramount House Hotel and Hotel Harry are our top picks.

The journey to HQ from Melbourne is incredibly simple once you make the one-hour flight into Sydney, making it perfect for a cheeky long weekend getaway. Hop on the airport train for just 20 minutes and you’ll be at Central station on the edge of the precinct.

Find out more about why you should put this neighbourhood on your bucket list and check out the latest updates at the Hollywood Quarter website.
