Winter is coming, and even with the current climate, the restaurant and bar scene is still running hot with new venues opening left and right. The latest to come out of the woodwork is Honky Tonks Tavern, a restaurant, wine and cocktail bar from the group behind Shady Acres including mixologist Ryan Nightingale and wine expert Mike Watt. Taking over Les Fils à Maman's former location in Man Hing Lane, Honky Tonks Tavern is officially opening its doors to the public on October 13 and is backed by familiar fixtures from the F&B industry. Behind the bar is Edgarito Santillan (formerly Terrible Baby) and Adam Schmidt (formerly  PDT), while chef Andrew Mast (formerly Chinched, Newfoundland, Canada) is in the kitchen , with Matt Richardson (formerly Ho Lee Fook and Aaharn) managing the front of house.

Expect servings of Nashville hot chicken, non-classic thin pizzas, and a variety of nostalgic American grub that can be paired with Australian natural lo-fi wines. For easy-breezy, happy hours, the cocktail programme will include long drinks, spritzes, and highballs that people can enjoy at the large u-shaped bar.

The venue is bigger than Shady Acres and will showcase vintage decor with knick-knacks and furniture sourced from around the world, custom-fit for Honky Tonks. The bar promises a relaxing, laid-back atmosphere where patrons can enjoy a cold drink, catch up with old friends, and maybe groove a little to honky-tonks western country music. "We just want to cook good food, serve good booze at friendly prices in a spot where everyone feels welcome to relax and enjoy the space in whatever way they choose, whether for a drink or a full meal," shares Becky Lam, one of the partners of Shady Acres and Honky Tonks.

To add to that, they also want to give back to the community by donating $10 from sales of every chicken and pizza sold at Honky Tonks to support local children and young adults with disabilities.

Honky Tonks Tavern is located at Man Hing Lane, Central. Visit honkytonkstavern.com or follow them on Instagram @honkytonkstavern for more information and updates.
