Easter in Hong Kong is a four-day public holiday which falls on Good Friday, April 10 to Easter Monday on April 13. This year, due to the current outbreak, Hong Kongers will not be celebrating Easter the same way as we are all used to because of stricter government measures on social distancing. So, picnics, egg hunts, brunches, and usual public activities might not be readily available on sight. But it doesn't mean we can't celebrate the festivity that families, most especially kids, have grown to love. Here are some recommendations for celebrating a safe Easter.

Get crafty with the family

1. Get crafty with the family

Western customs like Easter egg hunts, Easter bunnies, chocolate eggs, and other activities are all part of Easter celebrations. If you're staying in, gather your kids and get creative. Decorate the house with DIY Easter themes so you can get the kids excited and let them create their own crafty decorated eggs for Easter. This way, you can get the children entertained, and at the same time, you get to bond as a family. If you need supplies, check on this online shop to order craft items, papers, and other materials. For other festive party supplies, you can also try ordering here.

2. Cook at home

Easter is usually not complete without a family feast. Heat the oven and get busy in the kitchen. Gather your household members to chip-in on the chores. Let your kids help in creating Easter bunny cookies, and other family members working with roasting chicken, lamb, or baking a glazed ham. Read up on some gourmet inspirations to get you motivated! 5. Want to dine out instead?

Well, you can. The government's social distancing policy now requires restaurants to limit the number of diners at each table to four, with a strict distance of table arrangement to 1.5m apart. Restaurants are also only allowed to operate at half their capacity, and establishments need to make sure that each guest will undergo temperature checks and hand-sanitise before entering the premises.

Spasso in Tsim Sha Tsui East encourages dining outdoors at their 6,000 square feet alfresco dining space with the outdoor terrace overlooking Victoria Harbour. Check out their four-course Easter Brunch ($328) over for the long weekend. You can also check Feast (Food by EAST) Easter holiday three-course lunch ($338) and four-course dinner ($458).

Technology has played a massive role in people's current social life. So, if you are in quarantine or home isolation, it doesn't mean that you should eat alone. Since you can finally eat or drink on Easter Sunday, take your virtual dinner to Facebook video messenger, Zoom, or whatever video apps you are using, and wine and dine with your loved ones all over the globe.
