The Museum of the Moving Image debuts a show of video games produced by small firms and individuals with a particular gift for creativity.

Perhaps inspired by the success of "SpaceWar: Video Games Blast Off," a show chronicling the history of video games that debuted last December, the Museum of the Moving Image is unveiling a new display of video games, "Indie Essentials: 25 Must-Play Video Games," on Saturday, December 14. The hands-on exhibition pays homage to indie video games with more than 24 games designed and developed by small, independent studios and individual artists. They include the winners of the IndieCade 2013 awards, plus a selection of video games that have moved the genre forward over the past decade. Best of all, the games are all playable, so kids can try out as many as they like on the spot.
