What is it? Dominican/Texas BBQ. What began as a roadside stall migrated to a rooftop home at the Time Out Market.
Why we love it: What began as a roadside stall migrated to a rooftop home at the Time Out Market, and as of July 1, 2026, officially has a permanent home in Bushwick on Thames Street. The Time Out Market location had some of the best brisket in the city, somehow both familiar and unique at the same time. No mean feat. It’s Dominican-leaning Texas-style barbecue and the two culinary cultures make a handsome match. Crunchy, fatty chicharrones (hunks of fried pork) are right at home next to the brisket, whose eponymous bark is smoky and peppery-the perfect complement to tender, fatty meat. The pulled pork is also truly delicious with flecks of crispy skin mixed in. It wouldn’t be barbecue without sides and while, sure, you could just grab some coleslaw, pickles, and mac and call it a day, you really ought to try some fried plantains-maduros, the sweetness and caramelization pairing perfectly with your mains.
Time Out tip: The Time Out Market stall is gonna be around for a few more months, but Thames Street is ramping things way up: four smokers, a bar, a stage. Soon, a liquor license. The place is even featuring a cafe during the day. Check back for updates and reviews!
