Michelin Guide Singapore 2017: Eleven new restaurants earn stars

It was a night full of joy and surprises as 11 new restaurants earned stars in this year's Michelin Guide Singapore. A total of 38 restaurants bagged stars – up from 29 last year – including Chef Kang's, a humble Cantonese restaurant at MacKenzie Road, and Labyrinth, which serves artfully plated modern Singaporean cuisine.

Despite its change of chef, The Kitchen at Bacchanalia retains its star with new chef Luke Armstrong at its helm. 'For me, coming here was a special thing – I took the job knowing that I wanted to showcase what I could do. Whether that was good enough for Michelin is really up to them, all I can do is concentrate on what we serve for lunch and dinner. I'm really proud to talk and listen to my guests and keep serving great quality food.'

Waku Ghin is the only restaurant to move up from the one-star category, attaining two stars at this year's awards. Chef Tetsuya Wakuda was all smiles, stating that he's always set a high standard for himself and his team, and is pleased that their hard work has been recognised by the awards.
