Staten Island parks host free movie screenings starting Sept 6
As if to keep the summer spirit alive this fall, Staten Island is launching a Friday-night, family-friendly film series in parks along the South Shore in September.

If you're still lamenting the arrival of September and the departure of summer, cheer up: While most alfresco summer film series have wrapped up for the season, a brand-new one is opening this Friday, September 6, in parks on the South Shore of Staten Island. This week's film (all start at 6:30pm) is Disney's Wreck-it Ralph, to be screened at Seaside Wildlife National Park, followed by Goonies, at Bloomingdale Park (Sept 13); Madagascar 3, at the Owl Hollow Soccer Fields; and Grease, at the Conference House Park (Sept 27). All films are free of charge and begin at 6pm. If you arrive a little early, kids can ride on (also free) inflatable rides before the show. Don't forget to bring towels and chairs to sit on, and enjoy!
