Los Angeles will be the 5th position because it is much greater than Barcelona
My choice is New York city. New York is the largest city in the United States of America, if it is the largest city in the greatest country, i'm very sure that New York will be the greatest city in the world
New york is the greatest city in the world. It's also bigger than London
Ive lived in Manhattan all my life, with both parents from Europe, (mom Palermo Sicily, dad Paris, France) Ive been all around Europe and although they are all gorgeous and lively world class cities, none of them compare to the energy you feel when your in New York.
I think this is a good list. But honestly have to agree that London is the greatest city in the world. really not sure how NYC can score more than London for architecture.
Sorry, meant Guggenheim museum is a bit over-rated architecturally, not MOMA... not that anyone really cares of course, ho-hum, lol, innit, etc
To those asking why New York is rated 9 for achitecture but London only 7... I'm not sure, but as a Londoner I would say there are still quite a lot of ugly 1960s/70s office blocks around here. Think of those ugly blocks you see on the north bank near blackfriars bridge/st pauls, the southbank buildings in the same area, victoria st, the sorting office on new oxford st, etc. These are all in really central locations too. The post-modern stuff that came up in the 80s isnt much better. Take a look at Charing Cross station when crossing the river, its really bad! That one at the junction near Bank... man, what a stinker! Some of the new buildings are bad, like the Strata Tower and the Paddington Basin, truly international- class awful!
There are pockets of good stuff, the City churches say, stucco areas like Pimlico and Sth Kensington, Shard, but too much good stuff got wiped out during or flattened after the war.
Havent been to NY so cant comment on the 9, suffice to say the MOMA is a bit over-rated and the WTC replacements are really bad!

I would say Rio De Janairo will be a new World Capital soon lol look at how much it is developing and how friendly the people are ;D
Both cities are lovely but London takes the crown now. the vibe on the streets was electric throughout the olympics. I'll never forget my time there
For me it will always be New York. The excitement and atmosphere are electric. I am in love with this city.
As a Brit, of course London is special and I go there as much as I can but I agree with this list.... New York, then London. And Paris is definately a worthy third!
When I remember London, I first think of beautiful regency architecture, juxtaposed with vibrant modern glass constructions, luxury goods shopping/haute cuisine in Knightsbridge and Regent Street; the magnificent view walking north over Waterloo Bridge and elegantly beautiful river promenades.
When I remember New York City, I first think of dilapidated/crumbling infastructure, the near-ubiquitous smell of dumpsters and piles of trash on the sidewalks, suffering heat exhaustion from the shockingly brutal sweltering summer heat, and stepping in human faeces in Central Park (someone gave me very 'cogent' advice on how to distinguish human and dog waste).
It's shocking how much NYC has deteriorated over the past few years; given that perhaps as little as 4 or 5 years ago, I would have rated NYC to be categorically ahead of London. Now it has stagnated, and seems to be in decline in many respects; whereas London has vastly improved in almost every index (largely as a result of substantive net influx of money from foreign investors).
The feel and ambience of Central London has changed accordingly; and now offers a far more interesting and culturally-finessed (though less frenetic/energetic) walking experience than in Manhattan. I'm somewhat amazed (like many others here) as to how Timeout can rate the architecture in NYC to be superior to the of London, not only marginally, but by a full two points!
They last forever! It goes on so easily and smoothly and just gives great, shimmering color. ,Mac Lip Gloss

London is number one in almost every department and for it to come 2nd to NewYork due to the Skyscrapers being judged as better than the 100s amazing of very old structures like the Houses of Parliament thats London can boast is frankly ridiculous.
For me its London, Paris, New York
I also wear it alone sometimes when I'm in a hurry. ,Mac Blush
Maybe my expectations were too high, but I really didn't see anything extra special about this. ,mac pro cosmetics
new york, because i want to marry an american white girl and live there
London is the greatest city on Earth and will continue to be so given it's geographic location, economy and language.
NYC's a great city, but, whilst it's gritty chic will be cyclically cool, at the moment it just feels old and like it hasn't moved on.
The rest of the list makes perfect sense!

NYC and London are both awesome cities, but London is still far better in my opinion, and I think this gap is getting bigger every year
well to me after traveling a bit betweeen Europe and US.
New York
London
Paris
I like Istambul too, but these are my favorites!
New York is far the best city. The capital of the world. Im sure other cities are great too like Berlin or Paris but New York has the magic. Dont forget all worlds cultures are gathered in this place after all.
london should be number one in my opinion. The architecture is the best in the world, 21st century skyscrapers sitting next to 16th century chapels. London is a vibrant place with great nightlife and the oldest metro system on the planet it truley is a country in its own right, so many diffrent people from every corner of the globe living together in one city.
Where are Tel Aviv and Jerusalem?? Montreal?? Rome??
Are you kidding me, London, what a stuffy city lacking any vibe! While it has good restaurants and night clubs it is still an unfriendly dreary place to visit! After three visits I have no desire to return to London

The first Jordan shoes were designed in black and red and they were in fact not permitted by NBA but this did no effect except to bring more popularity to these shoes. In every game, Michael Jordan wore these shoes, and this made him suffer fine, however, he just paid the fine, and then continued his choice. In the end, this ban was drooped by the NBA. These Jordan shoes were not complicated ones but they could be considered as innovations of basketball shoes. The Air Jordan takes up a vital place in the sports shoes' world and its legendary status is almost insurmountable. Actually, playing games with these shoes on feet, Michael Jordan opened his door to success.The Financial Times and Bloody Disgusting are reporting that Darren Aronofsky ("The Wrestler") has walked off the remake of "RoboCop." With the legendary studio on the brink of bankruptcy and saddled with a massive, reported $3.7 billion in debt, the only news that seems to come out of MGM these days are what movies it isn't going to make.

Sundry like better to against clothing online.http://christian.asalestore.com/ - christian louboutin boots sale
The reckon of people shopping clothing online has considerably gone up in the one-time occasional years. Although we must numerous shopping malls around us but still uncountable pacific advance to workshop clothing online. But when someone shops online there are respective advantages. Firstly you do not miss to peregrinations to the mall and consequently resolution be saved of the illness of traveling. Secondly there are many who discern that prices of the things that you buy online are cheaper than these at malls. Companies transmit discounts when you shop online as entire does not call to spend gain on continuous the store. Therefore energy and manpower bring in room saved, so these companies can afford to transfer you a knock off online.http://christian.asalestore.com/ - christian louboutin outlet
If London and NYC are a '9' for 'world status', which city, if any, would be number 10? Surely no other? In which case, why aren't London or NYC marked as a 10?
im not sure a lot of you are acquainted with the kip awful areas of london that most people under 35 live in. compare them to brooklyn, where most people under 35 live. brooklyn takes a healthy dump on london in that respect. london only if you have money. paris is gorgeous but probably has the worst suburbs of the 3. barca lovely but so full of chancers and pickpockets i couldnt tolerate it for long.
Bias. Firstly, both Eurocentric and US centric conceived by people who spend all their time there. I've lived in London, New York and Barcelona. Have spent time in many of the cities listed. New York is a fantastic city on most levels. London is a great city but it grinds you down. Too grey and too commercial. The arts in all these cities are very self-centred and egocentric. Introducing an element which greatly contributes to one's lifelong well-being is environment. No-one has mentioned Cape Town. For any non-South African, it has to be probably the best city anywhere to live for at least a 1 year period. You can leave after this but you will have the bug to return. The culture will tire you (can seem dull to outsiders) but never will its beauty stop captivating and it just seems to get better and better. This quality of life is incomparable. Its hard to tell people what its like to wake up every day in that environment. It is a blessing. The problem with Brazil is Brazilians have got blinkers on. Brazilians are not the happy go lucky people they are when they are out of their country. They are actually quite inward-looking and not so friendly at home. Nobody speaks anything but Portugese so it makes it hard to just slot in there. Sure, the food, the arts, architecture: its hard to beat the Londons, New Yorks, Barcelonas, Paris's. But heck you have to put up with so much self-importance and arrogance born of centuries of power and politics. Asian cities are overpopulated, too humid and too smoggy from too many vehicles. Chicago is nice but the winters? Haven't been to Melbourne but from the sounds of it - perhaps this should be knocking on the top door. One more thing - people tire of the big cities - eventually you just want to escape the hype and the rather large downsides that come from living there too long.
As someone with dual US/UK citizenship (born in one, raised in the other), and who has lived for at least 2 years in both London and NYC, for me it's got to be NYC. It's more open-minded, forward-thinking, and tolerant; there is less negativity, the people are more open, and it's more technologically-advanced. Of course, this is my subjective opinion, and I'm not seeking to force it upon anyone; I'm simply putting my 2 cents/pennies worth into the box.
where the hell is Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Los Angles they are much greater then Rome, Chicago, Berlin
ARCHITECTURE:
Paris/Rome = 10
London = 9
NYC = 8
Tokyo = 6
ARTS & CULTURE:
NYC/London = 10
Paris/Tokyo = 8
Hong Kong = 4
BUZZ:
London = 10
Shanghai/Rio = 9
Mumbai/Beijing = 8
NYC = 7
FOOD/DRINK:
NYC/Tokyo/London/Paris = 10
QUALITY OF LIFE:
Paris = 10
Tokyo = 9
NYC/London = 8
WORLD STATUS:
NYC/London = 10

COST OF LIVING:
London > NYC (NYC twice as cheap)
WEATHER:
NYC > London
FRIENDLINESS:
NYC > London
THE COOL FACTOR:
NYC (e.g. Downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn) > London (used to be opposite)
BOTTOM LINE:
Unless the European economy collapses, London will probably become the new capital of the world.
NYC is becoming a hipper, more laid back alternative, for half the price.
Other cities cannot compete until they become more diverse.

new york has it gugenhein and its skyscraper architure and the statue and thats it , it has no st pauls no nash terraces no greenwhich no mall no real modern architecture nyc coming top is about being up yourself, as for paris for consistency its unbeatable.
Are you f*cking kidding me? Paris and NYC get a better architechture score than London? PAHAH..... The Shard? The Pinnacle? The Gherkin?
Oh god.
Are you f*cking kidding me? Paris and NYC get a better architechture score than London? PAHAH..... The Shard? The Pinnacle? The Gherkin?

My nephew traveled Europe for 4 months and said that New York City was rivaled only by Rome but he still gave New York the edge. And my niece said that New Yorkers were real friendly and helpful to her as a tourist. And New York is know for having a good school system and some of the tougher laws in the U.S.A. Sounds like some posts here are based on stereotypes of New Yorkers that either are outdated or never existed. New Yorkers showed their resilience after 911 and gratefulness for help they got. Sounds like thats continuing and Id like to visit New York
Can't really argue with the top ten. How on earth though, as others have stated, can New York and Chicago have architecture at a comparible level to that of London, Paris and Rome. Yes they are taller but are nowhere near as unique. Rome wasn't built in a day but over a few thousand years.
Somebody forget to add Liverpool!
Where is Liverpool?
Wow. People that don't believe Chicago is a top 5 or 10 City in this world obviously never visited the City. Go visit Chicago before your ignorant responses. Some of the best food, shopping, theater, sport teams, museums, skyscrapers etc can be found in this great city. It often gets overlooked and is definitely a World Class City. It's a shame that some of you people don't give it props.
